With its beautiful natural surroundings, Bled is a jewel among the Alpine resorts and is widely known for its mild curative climate and the thermal lake water. In 2004 Bled celebrated an important anniversary: 1.000 years since the first mention of town—in the deed of gift with which Henry II bestowed Bled and its surroundings on the diocese of Brixen.

When visiting Bled, do not miss an enjoyable ride to the Bled island with a special pletna boat, climb up to the old castle, visit the museum and art galleries. It's fun to watch the tradition and modern day cultural festivities, to ride around the lake in a horse-drawn carriage, or to do a number of other things we haven't mentioned.

And what can you do in the evenings? Enjoy various culinary specialties at interesting dining spots, spend the night in the casino or in a disco, or simply take a relaxing night stroll around the lake and observe the magic sparkles of stars slowly dwindling as the first light of dawn sets in.
